Balsamic Glaze Recipe: Making Balsamic Glaze from Scratch

Balsamic glaze adds a touch of sophistication and a big punch of flavor to meals. In fact, we find new uses for this sauce all the time! It can be drizzled straight from the bottle over top of steaks grilled on your Memphis Elite or whisked into mayonnaise to produce a tasty salad dressing. Making this versatile balsamic glaze is a simple process and much easier on the budget than the store-bought varieties. Use good-quality Balsamic vinegar for the best results.

Ingredients

  • 3 C Balsamic vinegar
  • ½ C brown sugar
  • ½ C white sugar
  • Pinch of kosher salt flakes

Preparation

  1. Mix together the sugar and Balsamic vinegar and salt in a stainless steel saucepan. Bring the mixture up to the boiling point then reduce the heat under the pot so it is just simmering.
  2. Stir occasionally until the mixture has reduced to about 1 cup. Keep a close eye on the glaze when it is close to being done as it thickens and is more likely to scorch. This process will take 20 – 25 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool. Store in the fridge.
