Grandma's Home-Made Chocolate Chip Cookies

We gave our grandma's home-made, melt-away, chocolate chip cookie recipe to the Memphis Grill Corporate Chef Matt Hays.  He cooked them on the Memphis Wood Fire Grill and they turned out absolultely delicious!  As seen in the photo below, you can purchase clips to stack multiple cookie sheets in the grill and make dozens at a time!  Perfect for holiday cooking!

Ingredients list

  • 2 1/4 C flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 C packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 C white sugar
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1/2 C shortening (butter flavored)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-1 1/2 C chocolate chips


  1. Preheat Memphis Wood Fire Grill to 350 degrees F.
  2. Beat sugar, brown sugar, butter and shortening together.  
  3. Mix eggs into sugar mixture.
  4. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt and mix together.
  5. Slowly add flour mixture to sugar mixture and blend together.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Place one round spoon size of batter onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let rest for a couple minutes, serve and enjoy!
